Chimney services Albany homeowners can book
Most chimney visits start with one of three needs: getting a fireplace ready to use, finding out why something seems wrong, or fixing damage that's already visible. A sweep removes soot and creosote from the flue and firebox before you light a fire. A chimney inspection that checks the flue, liner and damper tells you what condition the system is in when something seems off or before you close on a house.
When there's visible damage or an inspection turns up a problem, we handle the repair work on masonry, crowns, flashing and liners as well. If the flue has no cap, or birds and debris keep getting in, installing a chimney cap is usually the simplest fix.
Signs a fireplace or dryer vent needs attention
Smoke drifting back into the room, a strong smell from the fireplace after rain, water stains near the chimney, or chunks of mortar on the roof all point to a chimney problem worth looking at. On the laundry side, clothes that stay damp, a dryer that gets very hot to the touch, or lint collecting around the outside vent flap usually mean the vent is partly blocked.
Before you call
Note when the problem started and whether it gets worse in wind or rain. That detail helps narrow down whether the cause is the cap, the flashing, the flue or the vent run.
